Volunteer – WE LOVE VOLUNTEERS.  FG City Library has many opportunities to volunteer.  Some of these opportunities include:  2 hour shift at the Checkout Desk, Art Work Display Coordinator, Children’s Story Hour Helper, Publicity Specialist, Summer Reading Program Coordinator and many more.  If you are interested in helping, stop by the library and talk to one of our librarians or call or email us.

Support the Library – Our library is a non-profit all-volunteer run library.  We raise funds once a year with a fundraiser and rely on monetary or material donations from people and organizations. If you would like to contribute to our library, please call or email us at the library.  We also accept donations of new and gently used books that were published after the year 2000.

History – Our library was started with volunteer efforts and continues that way today.  In the late 1990’s Danny Vincent, driver of the Bookmobile at the time, suggest to some Fountain Green members of the Bookmobile board that they should start a library in Fountain Green.  The Bookmobile had some boxes of discarded books and some shelving that wasn’t being used.  They decided to go for it.  They contacted the city council and got one of the rooms in the city hall.  Tyler Walker decided that helping get the room ready, putting up shelving and placing books on shelves would be a good Eagle Project.  He completed it on June 15, 2002. Several volunteers ran the library with Jim Ericksen, the bookmobile drive now helping.  Many more books have been donated by people in the community other libraries etc.  We still get many donated books.  In 2002, Maxine Harward became head librarian and with other volunteers ran the library until 2014 when she passed away.  Many others stepped up to run the library.  Now we have 3 volunteer head librarians and 15-20 other volunteers who help us on a regular basis.  We have many more who help with special activities.  We have around 15,000 books, many are new and we add new ones each month.

Art Display – Our library has a rotating display of artwork from local artists on an ongoing basis.  Stop by and see what we have today.
